​GOVT SIGNS £93.5M CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 11 HEALTH FACILITIES

Government through the Ministry of Health has signed two contracts for the construction of five district hospital hospitals and six polyclinics in three regions.
The construction, which will be executed by Vamed Group, an international engineering firm, will start in November 2016 in the Greater Accra, Volta and Northern Regions.
The project, which seeks to improve access to healthcare, would cost £93.5 million.
Signing the contracts, the Minister of Health, Mr Alex Segbefia said the first contact entailed the construction of district hospitals in Buipe, Tolon, Sawla, Somanya, Weta and a polyclinic at Bamboi.
The ministry therefore signed a second contracts to commence work on five separate polyclinics in the Greater Accra Region.
Mr. Segbefia named Adenta, Ashiamen, Bortiano, Sege and Oduman as areas to benefit from the project in the Greater Accra Region.
He further stated that the constructs had gone through both parliamentary and cabinet approval.
