​Government Provides School Supplies and Announces Standardized School Fees

Education Minister Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has this afternoon at a brief event presented School Supplies to District Directors of Education for onward distribution to public basic schools ahead of the 2016/2017 academic year which begins next week.
The School Supplies presented today in truck loads were:
1) Attendance Registers for Teachers – 350,000

2) Teacher’s Note Books – 230,000

3) White Chalk – 2,400,000

4) School Uniforms – 209,415

5) School Sandals – 40,000

6) Dictionaries – 2,549,647
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang assured that with these supplies, she expects a smooth academic year without any disruptions or complaints of shortages.
The Minister confirmed that the progressively free programme had taken care of more items on the bill for students as her Ministry was ready to welcome 120,000 boarders in line with the expansion of the progressively free SHS agenda of President Mahama.
She announced next academic year’s approved fees as follows:
Continuing Day Students: GHc 20

Continuing Boarding Students: 

GHc 487.20 
First Year Day Students: GHc 460

First Year Boarding Students: 

GHc 922.20
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang asked all heads to note for strict compliance.
