The leadership of AFM and it’s membership wishes to join all well meaning Ghanaians to thank sincerely His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana for his act of remission of the sentence of the MONTIE TRIO having been convicted and imprisoned.
We wish to state that this singular act of Mr President and follow of due process as he consulted with COUNCIL OF STATE and with hindsight on Article 296 of the 1992 constitution, which is the SUPREME LAW of the land demonstrates clearly our gains as a growing democracy and our understanding of SEPARATION OF POWERS which is a pillar of RULE OF LAW.
We are sharply abhorred and disgusted by suggestions from the NPP and others who are opposed to the exercise of the president’s prerogative right that same will bring into disrepute the JUDICIARY their lack of appreciation of such matters and only seek to scandalize a very important matter on political grounds with no regard for RULE OF LAW. For such people, any act of his Excellency that is at variance with their own philosophy and thinking is in bad faith. They must be reminded of the fact that we are all Ghanaians and non is above the LAW.
We wish to use this opportunity to congratulate our 3 brothers who are the sole beneficiary of this show of mercy from the President His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and firmly caution all sympathizers and friends of the 3, to be measured in their celebrations.
God bless President John Dramani Mahama.
God bless our Democracy.
God bless Ghana.
