The montie 3 movement is calling on the President of the republic of Ghana to free their brothers, below is their statement given to us.

We are by this release calling on the first gentleman of the land to heed to the clarion cry of well meaning  Ghanaians to consider and show compassion towards honouring the petition to grant presidential pardon to the montie trio.

In as much as we don’t want to encourage bad deeds in our societies, we also believe that Ghana has come of age  in this fourth Republic  Democratic dispensation and as such it demands to be held in high esteem.

Our call on you Mr President  is born out of the fact that , equally learned professionals of law have shared their views on the sentence of the montie trio as not been fair, harsh, unconstitutional and the due process for their trial misapplied with regards to fundamental human right of Ghanaian citizens.

It is recalled that  recently, the former Attorney General Mr Martin Amidu came out with his take on the montie trio criminal contempt . According to Mr Martin Amidu He rubbishes the fact that if the President exercise his presidential powers to evoke article 72 of the 1992 constitution  to pardon the contemnors might mean interfering in the work of the judiciary. To him , even though the court has powers to prefer charges of  contempt their actions in this case have often been described as almost arbitrary ,  that may only approximate the truth when one is dealing with contempt of FACIE CURIAE(in the face of the court) so to speak to be dealt with on the spot.

However, when the criminal contempt is committed EX FACIE ” CURIAE (outside the  court) then the court has  no power or authority under the  fundamental human right guaranteed by  the 1992 constitution  to proceed as the COMPLAINANT, PROSECUTOR, JUDGE and JURY in it own case.

The facts stated are far reaching conviction that allows for even the layman to come understand that the Supreme court erred in law and form the bases why  the montie trio need to be pardoned.

Mr President we, will leave with these two terms ALTRUISM  AND EGOISM . You sworn to protect every Ghanaian citizen and this is the time  to honour that. PLEASE FREE  THEM NOW OR ELSE WE WILL ADVICE  OURSELVES.

Now to those who are counter attacking our efforts we leave in the hands of the creator what we can say for now is that today it is them tomorrow it might be you.

…….. Thank you……..
