The new Five Semester Policy that was proposed by “some stakeholders ” for colleges of education which begun Last Academic year has come to a Hault!!!
At a meeting on 28th of July 2016, with Princof National Executive at the Princof House in Accra, it was revealed that, the proposed 5 Semester Policy has been called off. Details of the call-off will be discussed at length during Congress.
#Prospective Level 300s will be going for out-segment come next Academic Year.
#On Campus Teaching Practice is now examinable… Meaning, the scores obtained during the OCTP will be Graded.
#Prospective Level 300s will have to report to campus 3 weeks to official Reopening day to make way for OCTP and Attachment Orientation. (Date of reporting will be communicated to trainees from various campuses)
#Research and Assessment as a course has now been separated. Research is a course on its own likewise Assessment ( Credit Hour each) (There is no change in content.)
#Cluster Based Lectures will be given to mentees on Assessment, Research, and English to prepare Mentees for exams.
#At the end of the First Semester, the following exams will be written:
* Assessment -1Credit Hour
* Research -1 Credit Hour
* English – 2 Credit Hour
#Semester Two Exams
*Statistics and Probability
*Guidance and Counseling
#The Whole of July i.e at the end of outsegment, all Mentees will return to their various colleges and attend normal class where all will be taught to cover 30 Credit Hours of the two courses Stats and Prob. & Guidance and Counseling.
The whole of July has been designated for that exercise after which final exams will be written in August.
NB: There is more Juice to this information. The full dose, “the why’s “, “the when’s” etc will be given during this year’s Sector and National TTAG congresses at Amedzorfe and Tamale from 21st to 24th and 24th to 28th August, 2016 respectively. Although the above has been arrived at, TTAG & PRINCOF are waiting for the official notification from UCC-IoE for the abolishing of the 5 Semester to roll out.
