A New market complex has been inaugurated by government through the Municipal Ashaiman as part of its agenda to facilitate what it describes as local economic development within the municipality and regeneration of the town.
The Ashaiman Market Complex, constructed under a Public Private Partnership agreement between the assembly and the trades, consists of 72 stores.
Under the agreement, the beneficiaries will occupy the facility for 20 years after which ownership would revert to the municipal assembly, but the beneficiaries could continue to operate the stores if they so wish and pay rent to the assembly.
At the inauguration of the facility last Saturday, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ashaiman, Mr Ibrahim Baidoo, said it was through economic activities that the living conditions of the people could be improved, hence the need to provide such modern facility for the people.
The Deputy Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Isaac D. Vanderpuiye urge beneficiaries to ensure a strict maintenence culture of the facility and also urged them to pay their rates appropriately and promptly so that the assembly could embark on developing more of such structures in the municipality to benefit more people.
