EASTWOOD TO MAHAMA CRITIQUES

MY RESPONSE TO PRESIDENT
MAHAMA’S CRITIQUES ON THE
ACCOUNTING TO THE PEOPLE TOUR.
It has come to the lime light as some
politically naive elements accused the
recent tour by the President”Accounting
to the people tour”as an abused of
incumbency.
those criticising the President’s tour
dubbed”Accounting to the
people”across the ten regions of the
country are either ignorance of the
tenants of the 1992 constitution or it’s a
sheer and calculated disregard to the
onerous obligations of the President as
enshrined in the constitution just to
score cheap political point.
with an immaculate reference to the
core duties of the President, he is
empowered to crisscross the country to
account to very people who gave him
the mantle of leadership to govern
them. Per the constitution the President
ought to render explicit and proper
account to the taxpayer on what their
monies are being spent on,in a nut
shell, there is a distinct line between
campaigning and a presidential tour.
For instance, when the President got to
kpando-Tokor he enumerated some of
the numerous projects that his
government is undertaking both within
and at large. thereafter he
commissioned the newly ferry procured
by his government to provide water
transportation service to the people of
Kpando and to other travellers from far.
This can never be an abused of
incumbency.
Ghana believes in transparent
accountability.
Ghanaians are for accountability
JDM stands for accountable
governance.
