President Mahama to later this morning commission a 4-storey 251 room 540 bed students’ hostel at the University of Mines and Technology in Tarkwa.
The hostel augments the University’s capacity to accommodate more students on campus. It was completed at a total cost of GH¢12,898,186.01.
The new hostel will accommodate 24% of the total number of students and as a result will increase the number of students currently being accommodated on campus to 65%.
The project which is a state of the art facility is fitted with:
Fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers
A porter’s lodge
Two TV/Junior Common Rooms
One Conference room
Dean of Students office
Bursar/Head Porter’s office
Eight kitchen rooms and
An office for the Student’s Counselor.
